Yen Ha and Anna Rubin
A Storm Event

May 24 - June 22, 2024

Drawing and Electronic Music Composition

Artist Statement:
A Storm Event is a metrological metaphor for finding inner peace in a maelstrom of a world that can sometimes feel dauntingly overwhelming. The proposed exhibition surrounds the viewer both visually and aurally in marks that appear to move on the page while sounds fluctuate through the space. The combination of activated senses deepens the connection to the natural experience of a storm, reminding visitors of the ferocious energy of nature. The delicate materiality of the small strokes on paper is a response to the fragile relationship of humans to nature. This is echoed in the pinpoints of sound rippling through the musical composition. At its genesis the work recalls the sensation of being in the center of chaos and finding moments of respite.
