First Creatures Presents: Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate… Is So Hot Right Now!
Rosette will perform Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate’s music. Program will include selections from MoonStrike, which is a piece based on three different American Indian legends about the moon, and Pisachi, a 6-part composition that draws from Hopi and Pueblo music. Both pieces are hauntingly beautiful, with simple, straight-tone traditional melodies that expand into a lush, almost cinematic texture.

Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate (b. 1968) is a classical composer and citizen of the Chickasaw Nation in Oklahoma who is dedicated to the development of American Indian classical composition. He is a founder of the Chickasaw Summer Arts Academy and has taught composition to First American high school students in Minneapolis and Toronto, as well as the Hopi, Navajo, and Lummi reservations. In 2021, he was a Cultural Ambassador for the U.S. Dept. of State. He has written extensively for orchestra, opera, chorus, and chamber ensembles, and his music was featured on the HBO series “Westworld”.
