OOYH Records @ Artspace: Second Mondays - August 14
Alright, we're back to actual Second Mondays for OOYH Records @ Artspace! The next one is Monday August 14, and will feature Andy McGraw solo + Angelica X (which I believe is their last show in the area for a while). Info below, and please come support so we can keep this series alive! It's been going great so far, and we're going to keep rolling with the second Monday of every month.

Andy McGraw (Chair, Department of Music, University of Richmond), has collaborated and improvised with musicians and composers from Bali to Ghana. He has published extensively on rhythm analysis, non Western avant-garde music, and music and ethics. In Richmond he directs Gamelan Raga Kusuma and facilitates a music program in the state prison system.
The music of Will Evans and Angelica X exists stylistically somewhere in the space between avant-garde jazz (BAM) and indie rock. At times frenetic and explosive, at times simmering, at times soft and tranquil, the group values sweetness and vulnerability as much as it does intensity and fire. In their music, traces of influence from Alice Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, and Ambrose Akinmusire to Sonic Youth, Frank Ocean, and Joanna Newsom are audible. https://angelicax.bandcamp.com/album/angelica-x-3
