The quintet set will draw from compositions recorded on: Brian Jones Quartet-Canis Lupus and Brian Jones Quintet-American Vernacular.
Brian Jones BIO:
Brian Jones is an Assistant Professor of Music Industry at Francis Marion University. Jones received his Ph.D. in American Studies from the College of William & Mary. His research interests include jazz studies, American popular music, and critical studies in improvisation. As a freelance drummer/percussionist, Jones has worked with Lonnie Holley, Gary Thomas, Mark Turner, Randy Brecker, John Abercrombie, Melissa Aldana, Jandek, René Marie, and many others. Jones has been involved with Richmond, Virginia’s vibrant jazz and improvised music scene for the last twenty years, leading different ensembles and performing with various musicians including J.C. Kuhl, Daniel Clarke, Doug Richards, John Winn, Marcus Tenney, Randall Pharr, Devonne Harris, Cameron Ralston, Marty McCavitt, Matthew E. White, Alan Parker, Trey Pollard, John D’earth, and Agents of Good Roots. Jones has released over twenty-five recordings on the independent label Slang Sanctuary Records.
