John Luther Adams is an American composer. Alex Ross of The New Yorker called him "One of the most original musical thinkers of the new century." To listen to his music is to plunge into a state of wonderment usually only experienced in nature.
Having lived in northern Alaska for almost 40 years of his adult life, John Luther Adams discovered a unique musical world grounded in space, stillness, and elemental forces. In the 1970s and into the ’80s, he worked full time as an environmental activist. But eventually, he felt compelled to dedicate himself entirely to music, believing that music can do more than politics to change the world. Since that time, he has become one of the most widely admired composers in the world, receiving the Pulitzer Prize, a Grammy Award, and many other honors.
Rosette will be performing JLA's music five times in five different locations in October as part of their third So Hot Right Now series. Learn more about Rosette and this series at sohotrva.com.
