Rosette presents: TJ Cole is...So Hot Right Now!
Sponsored by Karen & Tim Golden and Anonymous
This will be Rosette's fifth of six performances of TJ Cole's Playtime as part of their So Hot Right Now concert series. Doors open at 6:30, so come early to get a drink at the cash bar and enjoy the artwork on display before sitting down to enjoy a string sextet performance in a beautiful setting.
Born in 1993, TJ Cole (they/them) is the youngest composer ever featured on the So Hot Right Now series. Originally from the suburbs of Atlanta, TJ is currently in a yearlong residency with the Louisville Orchestra where they are writing new orchestral works and organizing community engagement projects as part of the inaugural year of the Louisville Orchestra Creators Corps.
For June’s So Hot Right Now concert series, Rosette will be joined by violist Danielle Wiebe Burke and cellist Peter Greydanus to perform TJ Cole’s Playtime: 10 Miniatures for String Sextet, a work which earned Cole ASCAP’s Leo Kaplan award in 2020. The piece has not been performed in its original instrumentation since its premiere in 2019.
Powered by Rosette, the So Hot Right Now concert series brings the freshest, hottest voices in classical music to Richmond audiences by performing works by one living composer several times over the course of one month in various venues and at a range of price points, allowing listeners to experience the music in their preferred setting at a price they can afford, and also giving them the rare opportunity to hear a new piece more than once. Three of the six concerts in June are free and open to the public, and your ticket purchase helps make those concerts possible. Thank you!
Dates: June 28, 7:00 pm, Doors open at 6:30 pm
