Performance
School Work performs at Artspace.
Artspace’s mission to promote the understanding and awareness of contemporary art includes performance art of all varieties. The gallery hosts performance events including music, dance, poetry and more.
Description of our Physical Space
Artspace is in a brick and mortal store front with 3000 sq. ft. of space divided into two main sections.
The front section is reserved for scheduled exhibitions which are selected by the Exhibition Committee for each exhibition season. The front exhibition space is 55 feet, 8 inches in length by 26 feet, 5 inches wide. The ceiling is 9 foot 8 inches. Six movable walls are used to segment the space into separate galleries for individual shows. Each section of movable wall is 8x4x2 feet.
The back of the gallery, known as the Flynn-Chapman Gallery, contains an open area used for Spotlight shows of our members’ artwork and exhibitions of work by area schools and other non-profit organizations.
Both the front and the back spaces change exhibitions monthly. Performers may set up in either area depending on how much space is needed on an as is basis. No artwork or movable walls may be moved to accommodate performances.
