Artist Statement

These paintings are about family members.  There are stories in each one.  They range from imagining a new life to choosing to live on the edge of hope amidst a frightening diagnosis.  This has been a year of life events in my family:  birth, graduation, wedding, a move, threatening illness, and several lives lost.  The paintings reflect on the individuals and help me feel grounded in the swirl that life is.
