and more.

Art for the Journey is a local arts nonprofit that promotes positive mental health through art and community engagement by promoting well-being in marginalized children, adults, veterans and seniors throughout Virginia and beyond. Visit a special exhibit of paintings and writing by incarcerated women who participate in AFJ programs at the Goochland Women’s Correctional Center. Learn how art is used as a non-pharmacologic therapeutic intervention for people living with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease through a special program developed by a gerontologist called “Opening Minds through Art” (OMA). Discover how children living in low-income neighborhoods are delivered art programs with the support of community volunteers under the lens of trauma informed care. Consider how veterans living with PTSD benefit from art experiences with local volunteers. The mission of Art for the Journey is to transform lives through art and community.
