Ian Glass

Rip
gold pen & ink over digital scan of garlic bag
13 x 19 inches
2012
Retail value: $450

Rip is part of a series of digitally manipulated images of common household objects by Ian Glass. All objects were found in his grandmother's home after she moved into assisted living. Other objects in this series included a no-slip rubber mat, a lace doily, and two serving trays which were scanned and digitally manipulated in a variety of techniques. An early of use of gold in his work, Rip like his Specimens in Room 45 borrows from the cultural significance of gold color to alter an everyday object. Ian Glass lives in Richmond.
