August 28th Event
Belles and Beaus is a mixed community a cappella choir that rehearses over the summer while most community choirs are on hiatus. This group's origins go back to The Petersburg Festival Chorus with a women's ensemble, The Festival Belles, that formed to allow members to sing more and augment the performances of the larger group. The Festival Belles expanded to a summer group, the Summer Belles, that had members from outside the Tri Cities area in 2015. In 2017 the Summer Belles grew again into a mixed group now known as the Belles and Beaus. Our goal is to share the love of singing and allow all who wish to experience a cappella singing the opportunity to learn and perform for the community.
The group leader, Jennifer Grundy, is a 20 year Army Band veteran and retiree. She missed performing after retiring and chose singing in choirs to fill the void. Her experience leading small groups in the Army, including singing ensembles, help her to form and lead these groups.
